Heavenly Garden

I live very near Claude Monet's incredible garden - it's on the other side of the Seine River from Montchauvet, but it's a short drive. Since my sister is here, I'm giving her a tour of the region, and thought you might like to go along!

Flax and Poppies

There are two types of flax - one is grown for its seeds and oil, the other for making fabric (linen) Here is the linen flax - with some wild poppies mixed in.

Lace curtain

One thing I noticed here in the village - no matter how run down the shed, there is usually a lace curtain in the window!

Storms

The weather here has been strange for May - we've had lots of rainstorms. This morning it's sunny, but already dark clouds are moving in.

Strawberries!

Strawberries are another sign of spring - although most of the strawberries in France come from Spain, lol. But these are so neat and arranged in such symmetry I couldn't resist a photo.
The shop is the little Arab shop on the corner - the only one in the next-door village open all day long and on most holidays.
